Antisemitism in the United States has reached alarming levels, with Jewish students on college campuses bearing the brunt of this surge.
In 2024, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) recorded a staggering 9,354 antisemitic incidents nationwide—the highest number since tracking began in 1979.
Notably, 1,694 of these incidents occurred on college campuses, marking an 84% increase from the previous year and comprising 18% of all reported cases .
This spike is closely tied to anti-Israel sentiments. For the first time, incidents linked to Israel or Zionism accounted for the majority—58%—of all reported antisemitic acts.
Jewish students have been subjected to harassment, vandalism, and even physical assaults. Swastikas deface dormitories, and chants glorifying violence against Jews echo through academic halls.
The Antisemitism Awareness Act is a crucial legislative measure that would empower the Department of Education to effectively investigate and address antisemitic harassment and discrimination on campuses.
By adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of antisemitism, the Act provides a clear framework to distinguish between legitimate political discourse and hate speech.
Silence and inaction are no longer options. It’s imperative that we stand united against this tide of hatred. Urge your U.S. Senators to support and pass the Antisemitism Awareness Act.
